PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information reproducing device, an information reproducing method and the like capable of shortening a period of time from the insertion of a plurality of kinds of optical disks or the like into the device of a recording medium to a reproducing start as much as possible. SOLUTION: The information reproducing device, that is provided with an information obtaining means for obtaining information necessary for reproducing from a loaded recording medium and a reproducing control means for controlling the reproduction of recorded information from the recording medium based on the obtained information, prompts a user to select the kind of the recording medium, receives the selection of the kind of the recording medium from the user, and obtains information necessary for reproducing from the recording medium according to the selected kind of the recording medium.
