PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a select assist device of an automatic transmission which prevents erroneous operation at the high vehicle speed having large affect due to the erroneous operation of a select lever without adding erroneous operation prevention structure to the select lever. SOLUTION: The select assist device is equipped with a torque sensor 12 detecting an input torque to the select lever 2 of the automatic transmission 8, a potentiometer 13 detecting a stroke angle of the select lever 2, an electric motor 7 outputting the assist torque assisting the operation force of a driver, a control unit 14 controlling the assist torque based on the input torque and the stroke angle, and a vehicle speed sensor 23. When the input torque to the select lever 2 at D or R range position is detected, the device outputs the assist torque in the opposite direction to the input torque and lights a warning lamp 24 in the case where the vehicle speed V is larger than a first set vehicle speed V<SB>1</SB>.
