The apparatus (600) has a power detecting circuit (610) that detects power turn ON to a class-D amplifier and outputs a power ON signal. A pulse signal generating circuit (620) has a duty cycle generator that generates two pulse signals corresponding to two pulse width modulation (PWM) signals respectively. A pulse reducing generator produces a reduced-width for outputting to the amplifier upon receipt of the power ON signal. An independent claim is also included for a method of handling pulse width modulation (PWM) signals for outputting to an amplifier.
