<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a liquid crystal display having high reflectance (high transmittance) and high color purity while maintaining white balance. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with: two substrates 3 and 6 disposed opposite to each other; parallel flat plate electrodes 21 and 23 which are formed on the surfaces of the two substrates, respectively, and at least one of which is a transparent electrode; and liquid crystal layers 9 nd 10 formed by interposing a liquid crystal between the parallel flat plate electrodes. One pixel is constituted of a plurality of sub pixels 24R, 24G and 24B which can be independently controlled, and the area of an display effective region of at least one of the plurality of sub pixels is different from the area of the display effective regions of the other sub pixels. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
