PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device of rack-and-pinion type capable of suppressing the wear of the slide surface of a rack bar and/or the contacting surface of a rack guide to push the rack bar. SOLUTION: The steering device for a vehicle is structured so that a rack-and-pinion mechanism composed of a pinion coupled with a steering wheel of the vehicle and the rack bar 26 coupled with each steering vehicle wheel is installed in the steering system leading from the steering wheel to the steering vehicle wheel and that the rack guide 70 to push the rack bar 26 to the pinion is installed in a position mating with the pinion.
