PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance of a printer, and to save power. SOLUTION: This printer controller 9 having a memory control circuit 1 executing a refresh process for holding data stored in a memory, and allowing expansion of the memory is provided with a means measuring storage capacity of the mounted memory; a means deciding a refresh interval required for making the memory execute the refresh process from the measured storage capacity on the basis of a prescribed rule; and a means executing the refresh process at the decided refresh interval.
