PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a urethane resin for optical material, having a minimum of coloration and a high total light transmittance and free from optical distortion. SOLUTION: The urethane resin for optical material is obtained by reacting a polyiso(thio)cyanate compound having≤300 ppm hydrolyzable chlorine content with an active hydrogen compound.
