FIRE RESISTANT GLAZINGS

Bilayer materials comprising a flexible backing film such as a polyester and a fire resistant interlayer derived from an alkali metal waterglass may be laminated between two glass plies to form a fire resistant glazing. The bilayer may comprise a coating of a pressure sensitive adhesive so as to bond it to the glass. The bilayers are inexpensive and readily usable in the lamination process.
