PURPOSE: An in-plane switching LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the LCD are provided to improve uniformity of critical dimension in an LCD panel and pattern process characteristic. CONSTITUTION: An in-plane switching LCD includes a gate line(124) having a gate electrode(122), formed in the first direction, a data line(132) having a source electrode(136), formed in the second direction perpendicular to the first direction, a semiconductor layer(112) having an active region(I) superposed on the gate electrode and a source region(II) connected to the source electrode, and a drain electrode(114) integrated with the semiconductor layer. The LCD further includes the first capacitor electrode(116) formed at a pixel region defined by the gate line and the data line, a pixel electrode(118) formed in parallel with the data line, a common line(126) having the second capacitor electrode(130), formed in parallel with the gate line, and a common electrode(128) branched off from the common line. The source region of the semiconductor layer, the drain electrode, the first capacitor electrode, and the pixel electrode are made of a doped polysilicon having transmissivity.
