PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation method of a diaryl carbonate, particularly a catalytic method. SOLUTION: The preparation method of the diaryl carbonate comprises a step (i) wherein an aromatic hydroxy compound is tempered together with components (d) and (e) for a duration of t2 at an average temperature of T2 in a device to prepare an activated aromatic hydroxy compound, and a step (ii) wherein the activated aromatic hydroxy compound is reacted with carbon monoxide and oxygen in a reactor for a duration of t1 at an average temperature of T1 in the presence of a catalytic system containing the components (d) and (e) to prepare the aromatic carbonate. In the step (i), amounts of the components (d) and (e) are B1 and C1, respectively, and the component (d) is a compound chosen from Ru, Os, Ni, Pd or the like, and the component (e) is a compound chosen from Sc, Y, La or the like. In the step (ii), the amounts of the components (d) and (e) are B2 and C2, respectively, and t2 is≤50% of t1, and T2 is at least 15°C lower than T1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
