<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method in which one I/O port is associated with a plurality of printers or image generators so that one data output operation is simultaneously directed to the plurality of image generators. <P>SOLUTION: In the system and the method for multicast print, this document reproduction system is provided with: a memory which stores electronic document data; data input having a means for receiving a printing command of a printer to which print out of the document is desired; a print spooler having a means for receiving the electronic document data from the memory after reception of the printing command; a monitor having a means for making a data path to a specified printer usable; and a data communication means for communicating a selected part of the electronic document data from the printer spooler to the monitor. The monitor further has a means for communicating the selected part of the electronic document data to the specified printer, and is further provided with: a means for receiving input from the specified printer so as to confirm success in transfer of the selected electronic document data to the respective printers; and a test means for judging whether the whole document is normally printed by the specified printer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
