摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger of simple structure suitable for charging a plurality of secondary cells rapidly in a short period, while preventing deterioration in cell characteristics. SOLUTION: When a plurality of the secondary cells 1a-1d are charged in parallel, the cells 1a-1d are first connected in series to a charging power source 2, and large current charging is performed. Then, when at least voltages of the cells 1a-1d during the large current charging by the series connection reach first threshold values (V<SB>th1</SB>) or larger, the connection state of the cells 1a-1d is switched to parallel connection. When the voltages of the cells 1a-1d during the charging by the parallel connection reach second threshold values (V<SB>th2</SB>) larger than the first threshold values (V<SB>th1</SB>), the cells 1a-1d are switched to intermittent connection, and pulse charging is performed.
