A simple crate for securing goods on a pallet is assembled from horizontal and vertical boards. The crate is pre-assembled in two adjacent side panes linked by a vertical edge (10) formed by two vertical boards (12, 14) Joined at right angles. The sides are formed by upper (16) and lower (18) horizontal boards and , if required by middle boards (20) secured onto the vertical boards with an offset (e) equivalent to the board thickness. The outer ends of the panels are secured by single vertical boards. The top boards are set down from the top edges of the vertical boards by an amount (d) equivalent to the thickness of a lid and the bottom ends of the vertical boards are extended past the bottom horizontal boards by an amount (p) which ensures a good hold on the pallet. The middle boards can be replaced by diagonal boards for a stronger design.
