PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outside insulation structure and a construction method therefor which can reduce construction costs by enabling reduction in the number of places for fastening venting furring strips and enabling the adoption of a commercial fastening fitting, irrespective of the weight of an external wall (external facing material). SOLUTION: In this outside insulation structure, a plate-like thermal insulating material 6 is provided outside a frame of a building, and the external facing material 8 is provided on the outer surface of the material 6 via the venting furring strips 7. The outside insulation structure has a structure wherein the furring strips 7 are supported on a foundation 1 on the first floor and on a horizontal member such as a girth with a large cross section and a girder/beam on an upper floor.
