The fixing device comprises a resilient ring (9) with an internal diameter which reduces in the direction of the outer bearing ring (3), in addition to a washer (10) located coaxially inside the resilient ring and movable in an axial direction relative to the latter, between a first position where the internal diameter of the resilient is relatively large and a second locked position where this diameter is relatively small. A fixing part prevents movement between the washer and resilient ring when the washer is in the locked position. Moving the washer in the axial direction towards the resilient ring causes the latter to expand in the radial direction, causing it to become fixed inside a radial recess (7) in the casing (2).
