<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming material which is useful for a heat-mode adapted positive lithographic printing original plate and which has excellent solubility discrimination and little degradation in developability after exposure. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming material has an image forming layer containing at least (A) a novolac type phenol resin containing phenol as a structural unit, (B) a photothermal converting agent and (C) a compound expressed by general formula (1). In formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>represents a residue which forms a cyclic structure containing a N<SP>1</SP>atom, each of R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>independently represents an organic group and may be coupled with each other to form a cyclic structure, or at least one of R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>may be coupled with R<SP>1</SP>to form a cyclic structure, and X<SP>-</SP>represents a conjugate base of an organic acid or an inorganic acid. The lithographic printing original plate using the above image forming material has improved post exposure sensitivity fluctuation without decreasing the development latitude and sensitivity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
