PURPOSE: A method for receiving a short message in a mobile terminal is provided to obtain a short message storage space by automatically deleting a short message when the memory space for storing short messages is full. CONSTITUTION: It is determined whether a user selects a short message automatic deletion, and if the user selects the short message automatic deletion, automatic deletion flags are set for every received short message and stores them in a memory space allocated for storing short messages(S11,S12). It is determined whether the user releases the automatic deletion setting for received short messages by the user, and if the user releases the automatic deletion setting, the automatic deletion flags are reset(S13). When a new short message is received in a state that the memory space allocated for storing short messages is full, the short messages in which the automatic deletion flags are set are deleted starting from the oldest one in turn to thereby store the new short message in the obtained memory space(S14-S16). |
