<p>An open-type clamp (111) in which the clamping band end portions(111a, 111b) are intended to form overlapping inner and outer band portions (111a, 111b) that are connected by a connection(131, 170), in which the plastically deformable tightening device (113)for tightening the clamping band (111) about an object to be fastened requires an initial plastic deformation for proper operation and in which a guide arrangement (121, 163') is provided in the end area (13) of the inner clamping band portion (111b) to guide the relative movement between overlapping band portions (111a, 111b) during plastic deformation of the erea (113), whereby the connection (131, 170)includes a lost-motion arrangement permitting initial plastic deformation of the tightening device (111) substantially without change in radial dimension to avoid the installation of an undersized clamp (111).</p> |
