PURPOSE: A battery pack having a protection circuit for preventing a short circuit is provided to protect the battery pack from the short circuit due to an accidental cause by turning off a corresponding switch, automatically. CONSTITUTION: A battery pack having a protection circuit for preventing a short circuit includes a battery, a first and a second power terminal, a third and a fourth power terminal, and a protection circuit for preventing a short circuit. The protection circuit includes a first controller, a second controller, a first switching unit, and a second switching unit. The first controller is used for outputting a control signal according to a connecting state of a battery pack to a cellular phone. The second controller is used for outputting a control signal according to the connecting state of the battery pack to a charger. The first switching unit(50) is turned on or off in response to the control signal of the first controller. The second switching unit(52) is turned on or off in response to the control signal of the second controller.
