Mineral dispersions are disclosed that are useful matting agents for incorporation into coating compositions. The dispersions are especially useful to provide relatively low gloss and relatively clear UV cure coatings. The dispersions contain carboxymethylcellulose acetate butyrate, at least one solvent, and at least one mineral. Though a wide variety of minerals can be used, a preferred mineral is silica. Also disclosed are methods of making such dispersions. |
