PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for controlling the discharge amount for a variable displacement hydraulic pump where the responsiveness at changing the discharge amount is improved. SOLUTION: This device for controlling the discharge amount includes an incline piston 1 for driving capacitive control means such as a swash plate of a variable displacement hydraulic pump by moving of the piston due to differential pressure between piston chambers 1a and 1b on both sides and a regulator for controlling the operation of the incline piston 1. At a pump operation, the piston chambers 1a and 1b are both always connected to a pilot port 2c of the regulator 2 to introduce control pressure to the piston chambers 1a and 1b, and when changing the discharge amount, pressure is reduced by connecting one of the piston chambers 1a and 1b to the tank port 2d by switching the regulator 2, which generates differential pressure between the piston chambers 1a and 1b to move the piston 1.
