PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera etc. capable of taking a picture of a scene according to a designating message until the final shot. SOLUTION: This electronic camera executes processing for selecting the kinds of photographing navigation such as "1. amusement park, 2. ski ground, 3. hot spring resort etc." (step S101). Next, the residual capacity of a flash memory is detected (step S102), and the number of pictures to be photographed from the detected residual capacity of the flash memory (step S103). Subsequently, it is judged whether or not the navigation photographing of the kind selected in the step S101 can be performed (step S104). If the number of pictures to be photographed exceeds the minimum number of necessary pictures, it is determined that the navigation photographing of the selected kind can be performed (YES in step the S104), and the number of navigation patterns suitable for the number of pictures to be photographed is selected (step S105).
