PURPOSE: An aluminide-based porous intermetallic compound and its preparation method are provided, to improve heat resistance, corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance. CONSTITUTION: The aluminide-based porous intermetallic compound comprises 25-75 atom% of Al and the balance of one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, Ni and Fe and has a pore fraction of 15-98 vol%. Preferably the aluminide-based porous intermetallic compound comprises further 0.1-5 atom% of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Si, Mn, Cr, V, Mo, Zr, Nb, W, Ta, Hf, Co, Y, Ce, Nd, B, N and C. The method comprises the steps of mixing an aluminum powder and one metal powder selected from the group consisting of Ti, Ni and Fe to prepare a metal mixture; molding the metal mixture at a temperature below a compound reaction temperature; and heating the molded one at a temperature above a compound reaction temperature or below the solidus curve temperature of aluminide. |
