PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection plug for optical cables and an optical cable for connection, which eliminate the connection loss of optical fibers when attaching the connection plugs having different shapes in order to cope with a plurality of connectors having different shapes. SOLUTION: A connection plug 10 for optical cables is so constituted that; a first plug part 11 of which the front end 11a an end face 1a of an optical cable 1 attachable to a connection reception part being a connection object is placed at is controlled so as to be allowed to be attached to the connector reception part; a front end part 1c of the optical cable is exposed from the front end 11a when the first plug part is released from this control and is moved inward; and the end face of the optical cable exposed from the front end of the first plug part is placed at a front end 21a when an adapter 20 having a second plug part 21 attachable to a connector reception part having a different shape is attached to the first plug part and the first plug part is moved inward.
