PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dressing apparatus for card clothing wound on a cylindrical drum, capable of rapidly and economically carrying out a maintenance work. SOLUTION: The apparatus dresses a card clothing, especially an all-steel sawtooth cloth, drawn over a preferably cylindrical drum, with a dressing system 20 that can be moved along a path predetermined by a guide rail 10. The device is provided with an advancing system 30 and the advancing system is attached on a supporting element 40 and provided with a first advancing slide 32 which runs perpendicularly to the predetermined path, and a second advancing slide 36 which runs perpendicularly to the predetermined path to the first advancing slide. The second advancing slide is attached on the guide rail. The dressing system is detachably linked to a driving mechanism 50 by an elctromagnetic coupling.
