An organic electroluminescent device comprises a lower electrode, an organic compound layer and an upper electrode sequentially formed on a substrate. To prevent a dark spot, the upper electrode of the organic EL device is formed as a multilayer of at least a conductive first inorganic film, a conductive organic film and a conductive second inorganic film, thereby preventing formation of a pinhole which serves as a nucleus of the dark spot. Incidentally, the word of pinhole refers to a through hole which penetrates the upper electrode ranging from the organic compound layer below to the air above. |
