The hydraulic steering brake device for motor vehicles consists of two main tandem cylinders (1, 2) each with a first and a second pressure space (10, 11 and 12, 13, respectively). Each first pressure space (10, 11) is connected to a rear wheel brake (20, 21). When the valve arrangement (9) is actuated, the said arrangement (9) only being actuated during a braking process by both brake pedals (5, 6) being depressed, the two first pressure spaces (10, 11) are connected to one another via a first valve and the two second pressure spaces (12, 13) are connected to one another via a second valve. At the same time a third valve connects the second pressure spaces (12, 13) to the front wheel brakes (25, 26). In a steering process, either a left-hand or right-hand rear wheel brake (20 and 21, respectively) is fed with pressure medium from the respective main tandem cylinder (1 and 2, respectively) by actuating a corresponding left-hand or right-hand brake pedal (3 and 4, respectively). <IMAGE>
