PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for harvesting plants free from trying many times to grasp plants such as mushroom in harvesting so as to maintain plant quality high and progressing a plurality of works simultaneously parallel so as to improve working efficiency. SOLUTION: The method for harvesting the plants comprises separately grasping a cultivation jar 2 and mushroom in the cultivation jar 2. The device has a plurality of grasping devices 3 sending down only the grasped cultivation jars, a turning circular plate 1 circulating each of the grasping devices 3 in a loop circuit, a cultivation jar supply device 4 supplying to the loop circuit the mushroom-containing cultivation jars 2 to be grasped with the devices 3, a mushroom cutting machine 5 cutting mushroom while grasping the cultivation jar 2 and the mushroom, and detaching the mushroom from the cultivation jar 2, a cultivation jar collecting table 30 collecting the cultivation jars released from the grasping devices 3 and a mushroom collecting table 8 collecting mushroom released from the grasping devices 3.
