The motor vehicle underbody cladding (2) has holes in individual areas (5) at places in which stone strikes originating from the vehicle's wheels (3) have only a small angle of incidence so that particles of the stone strike cannot penetrate the holes. The hole edges are sharp on the forward-facing sides of the holes and rounded or conical on the opposite edges.
