<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous liquid absorbing-holding member which has high absorptivity to liquids by a capillary phenomenon, and in which the porous body itself can hold a large quantity of liquids, and to provide an absorbing-holding member for alcohol serving as a fuel in a fuel battery. <P>SOLUTION: The porous liquid absorbing-holding member consists of a porous sintered compact with a skeleton in which metallic grains are sintered around vacancies. Preferably, the skeleton part has pores with a mean pore size of ≤200 μm, and the size of the vacancies is ≤300 μm, the porosity of the whole porous body is 60 to 95% by a volume ratio.
