PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame sensor tester capable of very safely testing a flame sensor for operation. SOLUTION: The flame sensor tester comprises a gas burner 20 which emits predetermined testing light; a chopper 30 which blocks the testing light in a certain way; and a casing 10 which houses the gas burner 20 and the chopper 30. The tester tests the flame sensor for operation using the testing light. The gas burner 20 is adapted to radiate upward testing light L<SB>1</SB>which goes toward an upward area A<SB>1</SB>in an approximately vertically upward direction, and diagonal testing light L<SB>2</SB>which goes toward a diagonal area A<SB>2</SB>in a diagonally upward direction. The chopper 30 is adapted to intermittently cross and block the upward testing light L<SB>1</SB>and the diagonal testing light L<SB>2</SB>. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
