The electrical plug-and-socket assembly (1) has a locking lever (6) which is pivoted (D) on the first half (2) of the assembly. It forms part of a locking module (4) and has an angled end (9) which carries a pin (10) which moves in a groove (13) between two struts (11,12) in a locking slider (5). The slider has two angled slots (14,15) accommodating locking pins (16,17). Rotation of the lever moves the locking slider horizontally and the pins move in the sloping slots to push the contacts on the first half of the assembly onto the corresponding contacts on the second half (3) of the assembly.
