The servomotor (1), mounted over a manifold (2) with heated channels forming part of an injection moulding apparatus to operate a valve spindle (3), incorporates a position detector (22) that is integral with its cooling assembly. The valve is located inside the manifold, and the cooling assembly has a cooling plate (20) located between the manifold and a cylinder and piston unit (5, 6) and with the position detector inside it. The servomotor also has a control unit that receives signals from the position detector via a connecting line (23) to denote whether the valve is fully open, fully closed or in an intermediate position.
