A second device prompts first devices via a request signal to transmit a response via a response signal. On receiving the request through the first devices, an actual counting status is altered for a counter. On reaching a target counting status specific to each first device, the first device transmits a response. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) A structure for first and second devices for receiving a request signal, transmitting a response signal and generating a response signal; (b) and for a method for avoiding collisions as a series of devices log on.
