PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide screen surfaces of displays, such as a CRT display, liquid crystal display and plasma display, with excellent transparency and shock-damping properties in combination. SOLUTION: The transparent shock-damping member for the optical displays is a planar body which is formed by curing a silicone composition containing (A) organo-polysiloxane containing average≥0.5 alkenyl group bonded to a silicon atom in one molecule expressed by the following general formula, (B) organo hydrogen polysiloxane having≥2 hydrogen atoms bonded to a silicon atom in one molecule, and (E) a curing catalyst and which has light transmittance≥85%. The general formula is expressed by R<SB>a</SB>SiO<SB>(4-a)/2</SB>. In the formula, R is a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon group; 0.001 to 5mol% among all the R groups is an alkenyl group; and (a) is a number from 1.85 to 2.4.
