A device for receiving and contacting two contact-type intelligent cards (3,4) has receptacles (1,2) each for insertion of one card(3,4), a circuit board (12) having on one side two contacting units (10,11) each for contacting one intelligent card (3,4). The receptacles are displaced in height in such a way that the inserted intelligent cards (3,4) come to overlap on one side of the circuit board (12) and the contacting units (10,11) are arranged in different planes corresponding to the receptacles (1,2).
