<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wheelchair commonly used as a walking aid, which is provided with directional stability in straight advance, and excellent turning performance, and is functioned as the walking aid, and with which a user easily gets on/off. <P>SOLUTION: The wheelchair includes: a frame (2) having a seat part; a pair of front wheels (16, 17) attached to the frame 2 so as to be freely rotatable; a chassis (26) arranged under the frame (2) so as to be vertically freely rotatable with respect to the frame (2); a pair of rear wheels (32, 33) attached to the chassis; an elevating/lowering mechanism (27) held between the frame (2) and the chassis (26); drive mechanisms (18, 19) to be engaged/disengaged with/from the front wheels (16, 17); and a controller (42) for controlling the drive mechanisms (18, 19). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
