PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cord for rubber reinforcement slight in mechanical strength drop even if exposed under high temperature and high humidity for a long period. SOLUTION: The cord for rubber reinforcement is obtained by twisting polybenzazole fibers incorporated with a basic organic compound such as p-phenylenediamine, m-phenylenediamine or a mixture thereof in the form of a monomer or a condensate thereof. This cord has a tensile strength retention percentage of≥70% after exposed to an atmosphere at 80°C and 80% RH for 700h. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
