PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform opening/closing detection of a face-up tray without increasing costs. SOLUTION: The recording medium conveyance device switches over the recording medium body recorded to a face-down discharge discharging in a state of downward of image surface or a face-up discharge discharging in a state of upward of image surface by moving a face-up tray 107 openably/closably provided on the device body to the loading position or the storing position. The device has a paper delivery sensor 105 which detects the recording medium in a first conveyance path 112a guiding the recording medium for a face-down discharging, and a both sides sensor 106 which detects the recording medium in a second conveyance path 113a branching from the first conveyance path 112a and guiding again to an image forming part. The paper delivery sensor 105 and the both sides sensor 106 are also used as an opening/closing detection means which satisfies L1>L2 with respect to the length L2 of the conveyance direction of minimum recording medium conveyed regarding the length L1 between the both sides sensors 105, 106, and detects an opening/closing of the face-up tray 107.
