PURPOSE: Provided is a wood preservative for cultural properties which significantly reduces the corrosion of iron to protect the cultural properties and elongate the life span thereof. CONSTITUTION: A wood preservative for cultural properties comprises 0.25-0.5wt.% of 3-iodo-2-propynylbutyl carbamate (IPBC) as an active ingredient, 1wt.% of 0,0-diethyl-0-(3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyl)-phosphorothioate, 0.02-0.2wt.% of antioxidant, 1-5wt.% of stabilizer, and an organic solvent. The antioxidant accommodates radicals of the IPBC photolysis residues, and stabilizes them. The antioxidant is selected from phenyldiisodecyl phosphite, 2,6-di-t-butyl-1-hydroxy-4-methylbenzene, or terakis methylene-3-(3'-5'-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionatemethane.
