BLISTERING INHIBITOR FOR USE IN COATING MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING BLISTERING OF COATING FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the persistence of moisture absorptivity of a chipping resistant coating composition for an automobile to thereby prevent the occurrence of coating film defects such as blistering due to absorption of moisture in the air even when left to stand without baking after coating. SOLUTION: The use of a hydrotalcite compound as a moisture absorbent added to a chipping resistant coating material, alone or with another moisture absorbent can realize the persistence of water absorptivity of the coating material. The use of the compound alone in an amount of 0.5-10 wt.% can cope with the case in which a coated object is left to stand for a period as short as about 3 days. The use of the compound together with calcium oxide can prevent the occurrence of coating film defects such as blistering even when a coated object is left to stand for 10 days. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
