PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact measuring apparatus which allows to measure the friction coefficient of a manhole that is used actually, and facilitates a measurement test. SOLUTION: The friction characteristic measuring apparatus has an arm 2 that is rotatably supported around a vertical axis center 4 and a measuring instrument 3. The arm 2 has a mounting section 6 for rotatably supporting a tire 5 and fitting the tire 5 around a horizontal axis center. The tire 5 fitted to the mounting section 6 is rolled on a measurement target and is rotated along with the arm 2 around the vertical axis center 4. The measuring instrument 3 measures a horizontal load A or a vertical load B applied to the tire 5 when the tire 5 is rolled on the measurement target. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
