PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane pump preventing generation of high pressure at an oil seal on the cover side. SOLUTION: The vane pump guides pressure oil leaked through a body side surface 22 of a rotor 20, from the periphery of a shaft 10 to a drain passage 10. The vane pump comprises a clearance groove 21 for communicating the body side surface 22 and the cover side surface 23 of the rotor, formed at the inner periphery of a through hole 20a of the rotor 20 through which the shaft 10 is passing, or at the outer periphery of the shaft 10. The clearance groove 21 guides pressure oil when leaked to the cover side surface 23, to the drain passage 18 via the periphery of the shaft 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
