Sarcolysine derivatives (I) (e.g. N-substituted and/or amide or peptide derivatives) are new. Sarcolysine derivatives of formula (I) and their salts are new. R1, R2 = H, substituted benzoyl, optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, sulfoxy, aliphatic or heteroaromatic acyl (where the basic aliphatic structure has 1-16C) or N-substituted aminoacid residue if R1 and R2 are the same; or R1, R2 = H, substituted benzoyl, optionally substituted benzyl, sulfoxy, aliphatic or heteroaromatic acyl (where the basic aliphatic structure has 1-16C) or N-substituted aminoacid residue if R1 and R2 are different; or NR1R2 = carbamate, hydrazine, hydrazone, hydroxamic or uric acid residue; R3 = aminoacid, 1-12C (preferably 1-5C) alkyl ether, peptide or polypeptide residue (all optionally substituted).
