PURPOSE: A device for controlling an LCD backlight of a mobile terminal is provided to supply a current control signal to a current controller in order to control an input current of a backlight drive according to a preset general mode/dimming mode when driving an LCD, thereby reducing power consumption of the mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: A backlight LED(Light Emit Diode)(532) generates a backlight on an LCD. A white LED drive IC(534) receives an input current, supplies a backlight LED output current, and drives the backlight LED(532). A current controller(536) controls the input current of the white LED drive IC(534) by a current control signal. An MSM(10) supplies the current control signal to the current controller(536) in order to control the input current of the white LED drive IC(534) according to a preset general mode/dimming mode while driving the LCD. The current controller(536) comprises as follows. A switch is turned on/off according to the current control signal. Resistance elements form preset different resistance values according to on/off operations of the switch, and form input current values of the white LED drive IC(534). |
