In a continuous process to manufacture fiberboard, loose fibers are continually discharged onto a moving conveyer belt, followed by the application of a foam top-cover layer which then hardens. After leaving the foam application zone, the fiber web (10) decelerates and thickens. The thickness of the foam is adjusted by the foam generator output. The thickening action takes place by the effective compression of the web, caused by the slower operation of the second conveyer (9) than the first (3). Also claimed is a commensurate assembly incorporating a number of continually operated conveyer belts (3, 9). The drying station (13) is a continually operated microwave oven.
