The invention relates to a massage appliance which is composed of a massage preparation, a container containing said massage preparation and a massage device that is configured as the closure of the storage container and via an opening of which the preparation can be applied to the area to be massaged. The massage appliance comprises two components via which a desired characteristic massage value, such as hardness or elasticity, of the massaging surface of the massage device can be adjusted. The massage appliance is suitable for use in the treatment of rheumatoid diseases.
