A smoking article comprises a wrapper material enwrapping a tobacco smoking material. The wrapper comprises a particulate ceramic filler of predefined shape, a binder, optionally a burn additive and optionally an ash improver. The particulate ceramic filler is present in the range of 50-95% by weight of the dry materials in the slurry producing the wrapper and the wrapper has a porous self-sustaining structure.
