<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen production apparatus with a simple structure and a small size. <P>SOLUTION: In this hydrogen production apparatus wherein steam is supplied to a reaction chamber containing hydrocarbon- or carbon-containing reactive particles to cause a reaction at a high temperature to produce hydrogen, the reaction chamber comprises a compression chamber 2 having a part 2A convergent from one end toward the other end. At one end of the compression chamber, a plurality of nozzles 4 are installed for intermittently jetting high-pressure steam toward the other end of the compression chamber; at the other end, a gas take-out port 6 and an exhaust vent 7, both opened at a specified time, are installed; and near the other end, a reactive particles supply port 10 is installed for supplying the reactive particles into the compression chamber at a specified time. Hydrogen gas is generated by converging a plurality of impact waves caused by high-pressure steam jetted into the compression chamber and subjecting the mixture of the reactive particles and steam to impact compression by the impact waves in the compression chamber to thereby heat the mixture to a high temperature, thus reacting the reactive particles in the mixture with steam. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
