PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector and an assembling method for the same, which don't allow a front end face 5a of a sleeve 5 to protrude when grinding a front end face 1a of a ferrule 1. SOLUTION: The optical connector is used where the front end face 5a of the sleeve 5 retreats from the front end face 1a of the ferrule 1 and a grinding margin for grinding the front end face 1a of the ferrule 1 is reserved, and the front end face 1a of the ferrule 1 is ground in such a way that a grinding face is not brought into contact with the front end face 5a of the sleeve 5, and thus a junction end face 1a is formed to assemble the optical connector. Thus both sleeves 5 do not collide with each other because the front end face 5a of the sleeve 5 does not protrude from the junction end face 1c of the ferrule 1 though the front end face 1a of the ferrule 1 is ground, and PC of optical fibers is surely performed.
